No. ACT permits calculators on the math test only. They are not allowed on the science section or any other section of the test.
How much does the ACT science section cost?
The science section is a $5.00 add-on to the $70.00 ACT registration covering English, math, and reading, for a total of $75.00. By comparison the writing add-on costs $25.00, and taking every section costs $100.00.
Does the ACT science score count toward the Composite?
No. ACT states that the optional sections do not affect your Composite score. The Composite is built from English, math, and reading, and any science score is reported separately.
Should non-science students still take ACT Science?
Often yes. The section measures interpretation, analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving rather than memorised content, so students who read charts and tables well can score strongly without deep subject knowledge.
